Winner of the 2013 Maggie Teyte Competition at the Royal Opera House, 2013 Garsington Opera Leonard Ingrams Award for Most Promising Young Artist, 2014 MOCSA Young Welsh Singer Competition, 2014 Dunraven Young Welsh Singer Award, 2014 Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust Award, Second Prize at the 2014 Sir Anthony Lewis Memorial Competition and the 2014 Blodwen Cosslett Leyshon Prize, Swansea-born soprano, Rhiannon Llewellyn, is studying as part of Royal Academy Opera under the tutelage of Lillian Watson and Jonathan Papp.
Recent and future operatic engagements include Sandman Hänsel und Gretel (Garsington Opera), Armida Rinaldo (Longborough Festival Opera), Anne Truelove The Rake's Progress, Dalinda Ariodante, Nella Gianni Schicchi (all Royal Academy Opera), Aristea Heart in a Box (Garsington Opera Education), Contessa Le Nozze di Figaro, Erste Dame Die Zauberflöte (both Opera’r Ddraig), Polly Peachum The Beggar's Opera (Longborough Festival YAP), Nightingale Nightingale and the Rose, Yara The Moonflower (both Tête-à-Tête Opera Festival) and Anna (cover) Strauss' Intermezzo (Garsington Opera).
As a recitalist and concert soloist, Rhiannon has performed at the Royal Opera House’s Crush Room, Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, King's Place, Purcell Room, Real Academia de Bellas Artes (Madrid), British Embassy (Paris), Colston Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. David’s Hall, Hoddinott Hall, St. John’s, Smith Square, Brangwyn Hall and many British cathedrals in repertoire ranging from Bach to Brahms to Bernstein. Rhiannon is a Concordia Foundation Young Artist, a member of the Royal Academy of Music Song Circle and a former Les Azuriales Young Artist. Future concert engagements include a televised guest appearance for the London Welsh Male Voice Choir at the Royal Albert Hall, Mozart Exsultate Jubilate at St. John's, Smith Square, Messiah at St. David’s Hall, Bach St. John Passion at St. Martin-in-the Fields, Mozart Requiem for Taunton Choral Society and recitals at the National Portrait Gallery, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. Paul's, Covent Garden, the Gower Music Festival and Cardiff Music Festival.
